If you can crochet pandas

In my last post I shared some you tube panda knitting videos. There are crochet pandas as well as knit pandas. You are in luck. Here you are.

Remember that felt, wool and mohair, merino are not vegan. Always use acrylic, cotton or other vegan yarn, and fabric instead of felt.

Why not wool? Sheep shearing is painful, injuring the sheep. “Sheep have been selectively bred to grow as much wool as possible, which makes their lives painful and uncomfortable. As mentioned previously, wool is often justified on the grounds that the animals need to be shorn, but this is only because we humans have bred them to be this way.”

If you try it, please let me know in the comments, I’d love to see what you are doing.

This website is inspired by the Patty Panda book What’s good for the goose is not good for the panda. You can read the book.

Thanks again to Violet’s vegan comics for providing the images and the stories to read for free for everyone.

  1. Love this post too! 😀 And also, to add to your explanation of why it’s bad to use wool, I think it’s worth adding that the sheep will be killed after their wool has been taken. Maybe not the same day, but soon. Farmers breed sheep to make money from them – first from their wool, then from their flesh. So even if someone says they’re very gentle when they shear them, they’re still going to kill them, and you don’t want to give your money to people like that do you?
Thank you so much for this lovely post 😀
